Summary:

The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice after his thirtieth birthday. But no one knows about the early life of the Son of God, the missing years—except Biff, the Messiah’s best bud, who has been resurrected to tell the story in the divinely hilarious yet heartfelt work “reminiscent of Vonnegut and Douglas Adams” (Philadelphia Inquirer).

Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior’s pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there’s no one who loves Josh more—except maybe “Maggie,” Mary of Magdala—and Biff isn’t about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

My Review

Incredible. Fantastic. Hilarious. Iconic. 10/10 would kill to listen for the first time again.

Okay for real though, if you want to read or absorb ( I don’t know about you but my secret identity is an amorphous blob that swallows books whole and rolls around trying to squish people,) this book in any way LISTEN TO THE AUDIO I DONT CARE DO IT. The voice that you read with in your head please tell me you have one too just is not as funny as the audiobook reader. So listen to it.

So did I go to the library to borrow their copy to take “artsy” photos? Yes, yes I did. Do I have regrets? Ehhhhhhhh.

So this isn’t a religious, preachy, holier than you sort of book even though one of the MC’s is Jesus/Joshua (trust me, as an atheist I would rather shot myself in the foot than listen to 15 and half hours of sermons disguised as humor and plot.) I can’t count the times this book had me doubled over laughing and snorting in public. PLUS ~the emotions~ Joshua and Biff’s friendship is hilarious and pure and sweet and dedicated and everything best friends should be.

Now if you are Christian I can’t speak to whether or not this will offend you but,,,, its great and I don’t care??? Read it???

The Plot is well thought out for a book in the comedy genre, and the ending had me shook and screaming WHAT THE FUCK. In essence, I can’t recommend this book enough.

GET THIS BOOK ON AUDIBLE NOW, TRUST ME. ( I know this review was not too helpful but I’m still shook even though I finished it two weeks ago so pardon me.)
